Streptococcal sore throat
Group A streptococci or Strep A

Causative Agent:
Group A beta-hemolytic streptococci

Mode of transmission:
Drop
Direct contact - of discharge, respiratory, salivary

Signs and symptoms:
sudden
fever, rapid heartbeat, chills
enlarged, tender lymph nodes in the neck
tonsillitis with whitish exudates muco-purulent
headache, abdominal pain
beefy red throat

Diagnostic tests:
throat culture - a laryngitis patient Det
Throat swab - Det antigen

Nursing:
bed rest, no sweets
oral hygiene and oral antiseptic gargle with salt or salt solution - one cup of lukewarm water + 1 teaspoon Salt Rock is 3-4 times per day

Prevention:
Preventing MOT

Complication
Rheumatic heart disease
Glomerulonephritis

Treatment:
Erythromycin - Oral 10 days
One-shot IM benzathine (penicillin), 1.2 MU per dose (for adults)
